NEWMARKET SEEKS NEW GUINEAS FESTIVAL SPONSOR

Newmarket is seeking a new sponsor for the Guineas Festival, which includes the first two Classics of the British season, the 2000 and 1000 Guineas. Next year’s meeting takes place over the weekend of Saturday 1st May and Sunday 2nd May.

Lisa Hancock, Managing Director of Newmarket Racecourses, commented: “The Guineas Festival is on a marked upwards curve, with record crowds for the modern era of over 40,000 flocking here this year and top class, highly competitive fields for the big races.

“RUSSIAN RHYTHM’s defeat of SIX PERFECTIONS, two fillies of the highest quality, stole the limelight in the 1000 Guineas this May, while last year it was the 2000 Guineas that proved to be truly exceptional, with ROCK OF GIBRALTAR meeting his stable companion HAWK WING for the one and only time in their illustrious careers in a race that will long live in the memory.

“With all the coverage over the autumn and winter as the ante-post market on the first two British Classics takes shape, followed by the intense build-up in the spring and the constant back references throughout the rest of the season, this prestigious sponsorship is a tremendously valuable property. We are very optimistic of lining up a new sponsor within the next few months.”
