THE VALUE BETTING COLUMN EVERY SATURDAY

YORK, SATURDAY, JULY 13, 2002

3pm FOSTER'S SILVER CUP RATED STAKES (CLASS A) (HANDICAP) (LISTED RACE), 1M 5F 194Y

GOING: GOOD

BP= best price of William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral & Tote.

1) (7) -176 Darasim Mark Johnston 4-9-07v Kevin Darley
Won a conditions event at Ripon on his seasonal reappearance but well beaten since in the Chester Cup and in decent handicap over 1m 4f at Epsom on Derby day. Had some good form last year, with current trainer and also previously for John Oxx. Looks a bit too high in the handicap at present.

BP = 6/1 Ladbrokes, Tote, William Hill, Coral

2) (6) /819 Fantasy Hill John Dunlop 6-9-04b Pat Eddery
Has returned this season looking as good as ever, winning the Chester Cup on penultimate appearance. Didn’t run as bad as form figure suggests last time out in the Northumberland Plate (eased when beaten). Must have a decent chance here and the trainer and jockey are in good form.

BP = 9/2 Ladbrokes, William Hill, Coral

3) (4) 6157 L’Evangile John Hills 4-8-13 Richard Hills
Finally managed to break his duck when taking a maiden over 1m 6f at Nottingham in May. Well beaten subsequently, most recently behind Daliapour in Group Three event at the Curragh. Would have a chance here on bits of his form but unconvincing overall.

BP = 14/1 Tote, William Hill, Coral

4) (9) 6620 Takamaka Bay Mark Johnston 5-8-12
Ran well when sixth to Thundering Surf in the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot and then when second over an inadequate ten furlongs at Ripon next time. Disappointed in the Old Newton Cup at Haydock last week. Would have a chance if recovering his best form but may not be one to trust.

BP = 11/2 Tote

5) (8) 9110 Demi Beau William Jarvis 4-8-09 Michael Tebbutt
Successful in a Musselburgh handicap and in a conditions event at Newmarket this season, both over a mile and a half. Disappointed in the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes and doesn’t really look good enough to win this.

BP = 10/1 Ladbrokes

6) (3) 1020 Solo Flight Barry Hills 5-8-08 Michael Hills
Stable in cracking form. Won a competitive handicap at Newmarket on seasonal reappearance but generally disappointing since, finishing second last in Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes on latest start. Has never been the most consistent of performers.

BP = 6/1 Ladbrokes, Tote, William Hill, Coral

7) (5) -730 Damask Rose Luca Cumani 4-8-07 Kieren Fallon
Ran with promise on first two starts this team but disappointing on latest start in the Northumberland Plate, although she didn’t get the best of runs there. Could still be open to improvement and has an interesting jockey booking. Has some chance even from 3lb out of handicap.
BP = 8/1 Tote

8) (2) 1211 Lady Two K John Mackie 5-8-07 Tony Culhane
Comes here in great form and from small yard more than capable of taking on the big boys. Won very easily at York and Ayr on latest two starts in handicaps (won by 11 lengths under 9st 11lb at Ayr). This is by far her toughest task to start but could still be improving (3lb out of the handicap). Feared, although not great value.

BP = 4/1 Coral

9) (10) 3573 Court Shareef Richard Price 7-8-07 Richard Thomas
Consistent sort but generally finds one or two a bit too good. Likely to be a similar story again here.

BP = 22/1 Coral

10) (1) 6252 Maycocks Bay Michael Bell 4-8-07 Seb Sanders
Has been running well in lesser company this season but this looks a bit beyond her, being 13lb out of the handicap.

BP = 28/1 Ladbrokes, William Hill, Coral

SUMMARY
The value is with FANTASY HILL each-way.

GOOD LUCK
