SENDAWAR FOR ECLIPSE
The Aga Khan's Sendawar, an effortless winner of yesterday's Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp over 1m 1f, is now being aimed towards the Coral Eclipse over 1m 2f at Sandown on July 8.
The colt's trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre stated afterwards: "We're looking closely at the Eclipse. He's already won over the distance and, providing the ground is good, he'll not have a problem staying."
BEST GODOLPHIN'S MAIN HOPE FOR EPSOM
Godolphin have announced that Best Of The Bests is their main hope for the Vodafone Derby on June 10. The colt finished third in last week's JWE Telecom Dante Stakes at York over 1m 2f.
Racing manager Simon Crisford stated on Saturday: "Best Of The Bests had been behind schedule. He needs to improve around three lengths and he will do."
Meanwhile Henry Cecil has revealed that he will step up the work of his three main hopes for the Vodafone Derby - Beat Hollow, Bien Entendu and Wellbeing. The Warren Place trainer had his first winner in 13 days on Saturday when Subtle Power landed the Hatherden Maiden Stakes at Newbury.
SAN ROSSORE DELEGATION AT DONCASTER
A delegation from San Rossore racecourse will visit Doncaster on Saturday May 27. The Tuscany racecourse is part of a horse-training complex on the outskirts of Pisa in Italy. On Saturday's card there will be the San Rossore Pisa Handicap over 7f.
The delegation will also be looking at the Northern Racing College at Rossington Hall, as there are plans to develop a similar facility at San Rossore racecourse.
EIGHT SET TO GO IN PREDOMINATE
Eight horses have been declared for tomorrow's Listed Compass UK Predominate Stakes at Goodwood. The 1m 2f contest is the last recognised trial for the Vodafone Derby. Of the eight runners, five hold entries for the Epsom classic - Ferzao, Norton, Roscius, St Expedit and Tantalus. The field is made up by Merry Merlin, Bogus Dreams and Millennium Moonbeam.
Also on tomorrow's card, Goodwood's first of the 2000 flat season, is the £50,000 Tote Trifecta Handicap over 1m 1f which has attracted a field of 20. The Forest Alliance Conditions Stakes over 6f has attracted six declarations, including the smart performer Tomba who will be having his first run for Michael Jarvis and Deep Space, winner of last year's Wokingham Handicap at Royal Ascot.
