PERRETT'S DEBUTANT HAS BRIGHT FUTURE

Trainer Amanda Perrett, daughter of Guy Harwood, introduced three-year-old colt Big Future to a racecourse yesterday at Kempton, and he produced a highly-promising performance winning the Kempton For Exhibitions Maiden Stakes by 1.25 lengths from Sarena Special.

Perrett has always thought that Big Future, owned by Khalid Abdulla, was a very nice prospect for the future and that he was very much a three-year-old in the making.

The West Sussex handler commented yesterday: "He is a little star at home but I was a little apprehensive about the ground today. He is a lovely moving horse and at the end of the day he needed a run.

"We're going to take him home and give him a bit of time."

Perrett reported that Tillerman, winner of both of his starts last season at Lingfield and Newmarket, is working well at home and will make his seasonal bow on May 3.

TODAY'S MEETING AT WETHERBY ABANDONED

Today's racing at Wetherby in Yorkshire was abandoned following an inspection of the track by course officials which took place at 7.30 this morning. Half an inch of rain fell on the track overnight.

Christopher Tetley, Clerk of the Course, commented: "We had to call it off as the track is waterlogged."
