INSPECTION AT PONTEFRACT

Pontefract will hold a precautionary inspection tomorrow morning to see if it can race in the sfternoon.

Clerk of the course Norman Gundill said: "The going is soft and it is perfectly raceable at present.

"However, there is rain forecast for tonight and we will have a look at 7.30am if it rains to check that there are going to be no problems. But it is a lovely sunny day at the moment so let's hope it stays that way."

The going at both Windsor and Hexham is now officially heavy but no inspections are planned.

Windsor's clerk of the course Fraser Garrity said: "It is perfectly raceable here and in fact it is quite a nice day so far. We are forecast a dry night and then showers later on tomorrow but it is a question of when those showers come.

"We should definitely be all right to get underway and there are no plans to hold an inspection."

The going for Newmarket's Craven meeting, which starts on Tuesday, is now good to soft.

Nick Lees, the clerk of the course, said: "It is a lovely day today with bright sunshine but we had 9mm of rain overnight so it is just drying out again.

"It's right on the borderline for good but we have more rain forecast for tonight so I have called it good to soft. We will now just have to see what is to come."
