THE VALUE BETTING COLUMN EVERY SATURDAY

NEWCASTLE, SATURDAY, MARCH 18, 2006

GOING: HEAVY
for the best odds go to www.BritOdds.com
BP= the best price at the time of writing

4:10pm £8,000 added Spike Rawlings Handicap Hurdle (0-130) 2m

1) -63F Through The Rye Edward Tuer 10-11-12 Paddy Aspell(3)
Fell at the last when every chance here last month. Acts on heavy ground but his jumping is sloppy. BP= 9/1

2) 104- Middlethorpe Mick Easterby 9-11-12b K J Mercer
Best form at Wetherby on better ground. Has not run for over a year. BP= 16/1

3) 13P1 Torkinking Maurice Barnes 7-11-11t Ben Orde-Powlett(7)
Triple course and distance winner - 5lb higher for his win last time which may not be enough to stop him. However at these odds, he is no particular value. BP= 13/8

4) 222P Pay Attention Tim Easterby 5-11-06 P Kinsella(7)
Disappointed over a longer trip last time out. Previously most consistent. Appreciates a stiff track like this one and acts on soft ground - not out of it. BP= 6/1

5) 3434 Rising Generation Nicky Richards 9-11-05 Brian Harding
Has won in these heavy conditions but lately has been performing on faster ground with fair results. Will appreciate this stiff track but the going could now be a problem. Trainer in form. BP= 7/1

6) 2P03 Andre Chenier Peter Monteith 5-10-11 D Da Silva(10)
5lb better off with Tor King for a near 10 length beating but now has a 10lb claimer on rather than Timmy Murphy. Theoretically could now turn the tables at the weights and the trainer is in great form while the rider won on his last start. Excellent each-way value. BP= 7/1

7) 6/P0 Cita Verda Peter Monteith 8-10-10 Alan Dempsey
Well beaten recently. BP= 25/1

8) 4154 Culcabock Miss Lucinda V Russell 6-10-08 Graham Lee
Fourth to Tor King last time and there is no obvious reason why he should tune the tables. BP= 9/1

9) P889 Nick’s Choice Dai Burchell 10-10-00 Mr Tim O’Brien (5)
Well beaten recently, mostly over longer trips. BP= 25/1

SUMMARY
ANDRE CHENIER
is wonderful each-way value at 7/1.
