Entries close at noon tomorrow, Wednesday, December 13, for the £140,000 Victor Chandler Chase, the feature race on Victor Chandler Day at Ascot on Saturday, January 20, 2007.
The prestigious two mile, one furlong handicap chase for five-year-olds and upwards is a Grade Two event.
The first prize is £79,828 and there are generous rewards down to sixth place, with the runner-up securing £29,946, the third £14,994, the fourth £7,476, the fifth £3752, and the sixth £1,876.
The weights for the Victor Chandler Chase, which is a Racing UK Order of Merit race, will be announced on Wednesday, December 20.
The Victor Chandler Chase returns to Ascot following the course's redevelopment. Cheltenham staged the contest in 2005 when Well Chief was victorious under top-weight of 11st 10lb, while the Nicky Henderson-trained Tysou took the spoils at Sandown in 2006.
The race has seen some thrilling battles, with none more famous than Desert Orchid's remarkable defeat of Panto Prince in 1989 when conceding 22lb to the head runner-up.
The most recent Ascot renewal in 2004 came close to emulating that great race as Azertyuiop failed by only a neck to give away 19lb to the triumphant Isio in a pulsating duel.
