ANONYMOUS PUNTER TURNS £2 INTO £175,000 TOTE SCOOP6 FORTUNE

An anonymous Tote Direct punter from Stockon-on-Tees bet his way into the Scoop6 Haul of Fortune yesterday afternoon after landing the entire £165,032 Scoop6 Bonus Prize fund and bringing his total Scoop6 haul to a massive £175,164, all for an investment of just £2!

The punter nudged himself into position number seven on the Tote's Hall of Fortune - which recognises big winning punters who have staked £24 or less on the Scoop6 - after his Bonus race selection Plutocrat ran in to land the spoils on the 1.40pm at Musselburgh.

Another of last week’s six Scoop6 winners, Patrick O'Shaughnessy was the Tote's guest at the course but saw his Bonus race selection Paperprophet outstayed to finish second.

"Small staking punters have been dominating the Scoop6 of late," said Tote spokesman Jeremy Scott. "It was only just over a month ago that Paul Freeman from Telford in Shropshire became the richest-ever small-staking Scoop6 punter after he turned his £8 investment into £517,141, and five of the six winners going for today's Bonus Prize fund had invested £4 or less on the bet."

"Indeed 2002 has been a great year for the Scoop6, not only did Paul Freeman become our biggest ever small staking winner, but we had our first ever celebrity winner when Mike Atherton landed £78,000 on the bet after betting into the biggest ever combined Win and Bonus pools (over £2 million) in August.

Other winners this year have included a namesake (Jamie Osbourne), a teenager, a baker, a restaurant owner, a painter and decorator, a housewife, a greyhound stadium promoter and last week the owner of a Grand National winner (albeit the Norwegian Grand National). No doubt there'll be many more fascinating Scoop6 stories to tell in 2003!"

This week’s Scoop6 Win fund was shared between two Tote Credit clients each landing themselves a £30,423 dividend. Both invested £64 on the Scoop6 and will now play for a Bonus Prize fund of £26,077 next Saturday. £173,850 was wagered on the Scoop6 this afternoon and the Place fund paid £43.

Four horses were covered by the six punters going for today's Bonus Prize fund. One ticket was on the winner Plutocrat, one ticket was on My Shenandoah while there were two tickets apiece on Paperprophet and Cita Verda.
