20% INCREASE IN KING GEORGE VIEWING
Boxing Day (2009) saw history recorded when the awesome Kauto Star won his fourth consecutive William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton Park. Channel 4 Racing captured the moment and was rightly rewarded with increased audience figures.
· Starting at 8am, THE MORNING LINE with Kauto Star owner – Clive Smith – as special guest secured over 250,000 viewers. An increase on former years.
· Afternoon racing average at 750,000 and peaked at 1.1m for the big contest – a 200,000 increase.
Andrew Thompson, Channel 4’s Racing Consultant, said: “This is turning out to be yet another vintage season. And, it’s great that our viewers are recognising the strength of our coverage and the quality of the story that we are telling. Let’s hope the weather improves soon and that we have a fantastic run all the way through to Cheltenham Festival.”
