Dubai, UAE, 12 January 2010 – Meydan held an exclusive introduction and tour of the iconic Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse to Presidents of the Arab Equestrian Federations, delegates, representatives from FEI and equestrian federations from around the region.

The tour included representatives from the following organizations:

• Algerian Equestrian Federation
• FEI Group VII Office
• Iraqi Equestrian Federation
• Jerisho Equestrian Club
• Lybian Equestrian Federation
• Oman Equestrian Federation
• Qatar Equestrian Federation
• Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation
• Sudan Equestrian Federation
• The Royal Jordanian Equestrian Federation
• The Royal Marocaine Equestrian Federation
• The Syrian Equestrian Federation
• Yemen Equestrian Federation
• World Cup Arab League
• World Organisation for Animal Health

They were given a first-hand experience of the world-class racecourse and hospitality facilities such as The Meydan Hotel, Meydan Racecourse, Parade Ring and Grandstand Corporate Suites. The tour allowed Meydan to showcase itself as the world’s leading integrated racing facility, with its state-of-the-art facilities designed to accommodate over 60,000 race goers and spanning a length of 1.6km. The first races at Meydan will be held on January 28 when the doors open for the Dubai International Racing Carnival.

Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse is the brainchild of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. It is the culmination of his vision to create not just the ultimate venue for horseracing, but also an integrated city that is sustainable, environmentally responsible and also one that positions Dubai at the centre of the competitive global business stage.

Meydan City will feature the Meydan Free Zone and four distinct sub-districts – the Meydan Racecourse; where the Meydan Grandstand will take centre stage and be home to the 2010 Dubai World Cup, Meydan Metropolis; a series of state-of-the-art business parks, Meydan Horizons; where business towers intermingle with luxury waterfront developments and Meydan Godolphin Parks; with its distinctive Godolphin Tower created in the image of a thoroughbred and also where the shopping destination Signature Mall is located.
