TEN CONSECUTIVE RACE MEETING WINS FOR MULLEN

Richard Mullen’s winning tally has now stretched to riding a winner at ten consecutive meetings in the UAE, when partnering the Julian Smart-trained Kerouan Lotois to victory in the opening race at Nad al Sheba on Sunday evening, the Tarif Handicap for Purebred Arabians over 1,400 metres.

The field were led to the 400 metre post by the Michael Kettle-trained Zal Al Qamari under Robert Burke, but Kerouan Lotois came up on the rail to run clear and win by two and a quarter lengths.

The Smith family continued their success in the UAE amateur races when winning their second on the bounce when landing the Al Dhaid Handicap over 1,800 metres with the Martin Smith-partnered Mr Spa. Erwan Charpy’s Jumhoor was two and a quarter lengths back in second with Jasmim da Noite and Philip Collington in third.

Ted Durcan made all to win the Awaffi Throughbred Maiden over 1,700 metres aboard the Mazin Al Kurdi-trained Dramatic Edge, Paddy Rudkin’s Desert Sun was two lengths second with Albadou and Willie Supple in third.

Satish Seemar’s Nantucket got up in the final 150 metres to land the fourth race of the evening the Al Bustan Thoroughbred Handicap over 1,300 metres, with Ryan Moore. Makasseb, the mount of Kieren Fallon, made most of the running but had no reply to the challenge of Nantucket who won by a length and a quarter.

Muwassi and Richard Hills took the lead from 200 metres and ran on well to win the 1,400 metres Al Fujairah Thoroughbred Handicap coming into the straight the Erwan Charpy-trained son of Grand Lodge was always going well with the Smith-trained Binsana leading into the straight. Muwassi came to challenge from the 400 metre pole and ran on for a two-length win.

Michael Kettle’s Warpedsenseofhumor, under Robert Burke, got up to challenge and win the final race of the evening, the Khor Al Baydha Handicap over 2,000 metres. Dajraan, under Paul Hanagan, had set sail for home in the straight but Warpedsenseofhumor got up in the shadow of the finish line to win by half a length.
