FIRST SCOOP6 WINNER OF 2002 COULD LAND £250,000

Two healthy sized rollover pools carry over to the Scoop6 races this Saturday from Warwick and Newcastle, and by the time the pools close tomorrow there could be up to £250,000 in prize money lining their sides.

"Roger Luckham ended 2001 by turning his £2 into a £164,000 Scoop6 haul, and the opportunity is there tomorrow for another punter to start the 2002 by landing the first part of what could potentially be a £250,000 Sccop6 windfall," said Tote spokesman Jeremy Scott.

"The pools are already well stocked with £74,491 lining the Win fund and £96,158 sitting in the Bonus Prize Fund, and with punters having got the taste for big Tote bet rollovers this week-following two large mid-week Jackpot rollovers-expect the momentum behind the Scoop6 pools to step up another gear tomorrow."

RESULT OF AN APPEAL HEARD BY THE JOCKEY CLUB DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE TODAY

Andrew Reid / Dispol Evita

The Disciplinary Committee of the Jockey Club, on 11th January 2002, considered an appeal lodged by Andrew Reid, the trainer of DISPOL EVITA, placed first in the Littlewoods Bet Direct On 0800 329 393 Selling Stakes on 8th January 2002, against the decision of the Lingfield Stewards to find that DISPOL EVITA had accidentally interfered with BATTLE LINE placed second, that the interference had improved DISPOL EVITA's placing, and to alter the placings.

The Committee heard evidence from Reid, Martin Dwyer, the rider of DISPOL EVITA and Jimmy Fortune, the rider of BATTLE LINE. It also viewed video recordings of the race.

Having considered the evidence, the Committee found that DISPOL EVITA had interfered with BATTLE LINE and that the interference was accidental.

The Committee was not satisfied that DISPOL EVITA had improved her placing in respect of the interference with BATTLE LINE. It therefore upheld the appeal and placed DISPOL EVITA first and BATTLE LINE second.

LATEST NAD AL SHEBA ACTION

Nad Al Sheba Review - Thursday January 10, 2002

Gary Hind returned to multiple success in the Emirates last Thursday night, a winning double highlighting his evening with the prospect of much more to come following the explosive performance of Conroy in the Conditions event over 1,000m.

Conroy recorded 56.6 seconds for the 1,000m at Nad Al Sheba, the fastest ever run over the course by more than two seconds, the horse defeating Orchestrated by three lengths with Ramp And Rave, the 1999 Nad Al Sheba Sprint winner, over four lengths away third.

The time was so quick that stewards and the judge had to double check the time before it was announced official.

For Hind, this was his first double in the Emirates since his return, the jockey a former leading rider in the UAE prior to spending a season in Bahrain.

He returned to the Emirates for 2001/2002 and linked with the Jaci Wickham Stable although his two winners last Thursday night came through different stables, for Dhruba Selvaratnam he partnered Shaalayn to victory in the 2,400m handicap and for Dhruba¹s brother Aditiyan aboard Conroy. Conroy has won two from his four starts this season and on his first win he did record faster time than what Vulpix recorded in winning the Open sprint when defeating the subsequent Al Shindagha Sprint winner Glad Master.

His only failure was his start prior to last Thursday when he was a long way back behind Flight Pattern in the Al Shindagha Sprint Prep though according to his trainer, the horse never handled the turf track and this was the excuse for that failure.

Michael Hills and Paddy Rudkin continued their good recent success with a winning double, Historical very impressive in the Maiden before Tangram accounted for a good field in the 1,200m turf sprint.

Reigning champion jockey Ted Durcan also secured a double as did trainer Satish Seemar, winning the opening Purebred Arabian event with Quick Reply before the former John Gosden-trained Dubai Midnight made a successful UAE debut in the final event, a 1,700m Maiden for three-year-olds.
